Cobolli und Zverev rockin’ Mexiko

The ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco was dominated by former Jugend Cup players: Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, a 2018 Jugend Cup finalist, defeated American Francis Tiafoe in straight sets in the final and climbed to No. 15 in the world rankings. Alexander Zverev (JC 2010) claimed the doubles title on the Mexican Pacific coast alongside his best buddy Marcelo Melo (Brazil).

Ella Seidel breaks into the top 100

Ella Seidel, winner of the 2020 Baublies Jugend Cup in Rutesheim, has entered the top 100 of the WTA world rankings for the first time. At the 500-level tournament in Seoul, the Hamburg native first fought her way through qualifying, then secured her first main-draw victory of 2025 with relative ease, and now stands in the top 100 after defeating Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-7, 7-6, 7-5. The match against the world No. 25 lasted 3 hours and 30 minutes. The Baublies Youth Cup team extends its heartfelt congratulations on this success.

New York, September 7, 2025: Seventeen-year-old Alena Kovackova (CZE), the 2021 JC champion in the U14 age group, and her younger sister Jana won the doubles title at the US Junior Open with a straight-sets victory over Jeline Vandromme (BEL) and Laima Vladson (LIT). In the semifinals, the sisters from Prague eliminated the German duo Eva Bennemann (JC 24)/Sonja Zhenikova. Other Jugend Cup alumni also delivered outstanding performances at Flushing Meadows: Jamie Mackenzie (GER), the winner of the Jugend Cup 24, reached the semifinals in junior doubles, while Max Schoenhaus (GER/JC 22) and Italian Gabriele Crivellaro (JC 24 and 25) reached the quarterfinals in doubles. In singles, Schoenhaus lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Ivan Ivanov (BUL) in a match tiebreak. Julia Stusek (GER), the reigning Jugend Cup champion, also reached the quarterfinals at the premier junior tournament. The Baublies Jugend Cup congratulates all its alumni on their outstanding achievements and wishes the young stars all the best for the future.

New York 05.09.2025: Jamie “Red Rocket” Mackenzie is the last remaining male DTB representative flying the German flag in New York. The New Zealand native, the 2024 Jugend Cup champion, advanced to the doubles semifinals of the US Junior Open with his American partner Dominick Mosejczuk after a two-set victory over Karki/Satterfield (USA). Awaiting them there are two powerhouse US boys, Noah Johnston and Benjamin Willwerth, who knocked out Italians Michele Mecarelli and Jugend Cup veteran Gabriele Crivellaro in the quarterfinals. Jugend Cup alumni Julia Stusek and Max Schönfeld also saw their run at the Junior Grand Slam come to an end in the singles and doubles quarterfinals. Still in the running are Eva Bennemann (Baublies Jugend Cup 2024) and her partner Sonja Zhenikova, who will battle the Czech Kovackova sisters (also Jugend Cup alumni) today for a spot in the doubles final.

New York 03.09.2025: Julia Stusek, the 2025 Baublies Jugend Cup champion, advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Junior Open with a dominant 6-4, 6-3 victory over American Welles Newman. The petite player from South Baden particularly stood out with her powerful serves and varied play. In the semifinals, Stusek will face Britain’s Hannah Klugman. Max Schönhaus is another Jugend Cup alumnus who has made it to the quarterfinals.

Terence Atmane mixing up the world stars in Cincinnati

Ten years ago, he lost in the first round in Rutesheim to a certain Sven Lemstra. Terence Atmane is currently mixing up the world stars in Cincinnati. After Flavio Cobolli, JoĂŁo Fonseca and Taylor Fritz, Holger Rune has now also had to pack his bags. Cobolli reached the final of the Baublies Jugend Cup in 2019, while Rune won the tournament in 2016. FĂ©licitations, Terence!

Ella Seidel in Wimbledon Main Draw

Ella Seidel, Baublies Jugend Cup Champion 2021, has qualified for the main draw at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The Hamburg native beat Jugend Cup alumna Jana Fett in three sets in the qualifying final and is now only a few points away from the top 100 of the WTA world rankings. Congratulations, Ella!

Mirra Mirracle

 

Seven years ago a 10-year-old girl from Russia appeared at the Baublies Jugend Cup in Rutesheim for the first time. The girl was still too young to compete – but good enough to practice with her older sister Erika, who went to win the tennis tournament twice. Today, Erika is a top 100 player and the little Mirra Andreeva from back then is a superstar: the 17-year-old won the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, California, the so called 5th Slam, beating Ukrainian Jelena Svitolina, Poland’s Iga Swiontek and Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus on her way to the title. It was the second major triumph of the year, taking “Mirra Mirracle” to # 6 spot at the WTA world rankings. We are proud to have experienced you twice at our venue and wish you good luck on your way to # 1.

Die 17-jĂ€hrige Mirra Andreeva, die den Baublies Youth Cup bereits zweimal (2017 und 2019) mit ihrer Anwesenheit beehrt hat, gewann in Dubai das erste 1000er-Turnier ihrer jungen Karriere. Die Russin, die seit einigen Jahren im sĂŒdfranzösischen Nizza lebt, besiegte im Finale die DĂ€nin Klara Tauson 7:6 (1), 6:1. In der zweiten Runde hatte sie Iga Swiontek ausgeschaltet. Der Sieg katapultierte Mirra auf Platz 9 der WTA-Weltrangliste. / The 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, who has honoured the Baublies Youth Cup twice with her presence (2017 and 2019), won the first 1000 tournament of her young career in Dubai. The Russian, who has been living in Nice in the south of France for the past few years, defeated Denmark’s Klara Tauson 7-6 (1), 6-1 in the final. She had knocked out Iga Swiontek in the second round. The victory catapulted Mirra up to 9th in the WTA world rankings.

Der Baublies Jugend Cup Rutesheim gratuliert zwei ehemaligen Teilnehmern zu herausragenden Erfolgen bei den Australian Open 2025: Der Schweizer Henry Bernet (BJC 2023) feierte an seinem 18. Geburtstag den Sieg im Junioren-Finale. Super Star Alexander Zverev (BJC 2010) musste sich im Finale der Großen einem noch GrĂ¶ĂŸeren geschlagen geben und wurde Vize-Meister. Alles in allem hat die Nummer 2 der Weltrangliste ein herausragendes Turnier gespielt. Wir sind stolz auf unsere beiden Alumni und sind sicher, dass beide zu noch grĂ¶ĂŸeren Triumphen fĂ€hig sind.
